Only a few corals can match this coral’s startling contrast of colors, making the Superman Montipora a highly desirable for saltwater hobbyist. Superman Montipora coral have red polyps on a blue body and is peaceful reef inhabitant, that will not bother other neighboring corals. However, be sure to provide ample space away from other corals as it can grow quickly under ideal conditions. Once the coral is established in your reef tank and with proper reef husbandry this coral can take off in growth. Montipora corals can grow in very unique growth patterns. They come in a variety of colors adding some very nice eye candy to your reef tank.
Because Montipora is a hardy coral, it’s a great option as a beginner coral to try your hand at SPS. Watch this coral particularly for early warning signs that Alkalinity may be getting too low. If Alkalinity is low the Montipora in particular are one of the first corals to have closed polyps or a receding base.
Diet & Nutrition: The majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. It will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. A daily broadcast feeding while return and circulations pumps are stopped will ensure the corals have the ability to consume the nutrients they require.
