Saltwater Blennies may be used in either a Reef Tanks or Saltwater Aquarium to keep algae under control and make great additions to peaceful community tanks. They are a calm, friendly fish, that can have a truly unique bubbly personality unlike any other type of marine fish. Blenny’s are small fish with scale less smooth skin and typically live in shallow inshore or intertidal waters.
They are usually easy to keep and maintain in a aquarium. Blennies are somewhat territorial in nature, and are very solitary unless mated pairs. Extensive rockwork and a good growth of microalgae are necessary to successfully maintain them in captivity.
Blennies will maintain a small territory in which they find a small place in the live rock to sleep and hide. They are not normally open water swimmers except when they go after food and are reef safe. They make great additions to peaceful community tanks and most will also eat unwanted algae growth.
