The Space Invader Pectinia Coral is a striking and unique addition to any reef tank due to its bright neon green and yellow coloration provides a beautiful contrast to other corals in an aquarium. Here's how to care for it:

Lighting:

  • Moderate to Low: This coral does well under moderate to low lighting conditions. It can tolerate stronger lighting if properly acclimated, but too much light can lead to bleaching. It's best to place it in shaded or semi-shaded areas initially.

Water Flow:

  • Low to Moderate: Like other fleshy corals, Space Invader Pectinia prefers gentle water flow. Too much direct flow can damage its delicate tissue.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 25°C)
  • pH: 8.1 to 8.4
  • Alkalinity: 8 to 12 dKH
  • Calcium: 400 to 450 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1250 to 1350 ppm
  • Nitrates: <10 ppm
  • Phosphates: <0.03 ppm

Feeding:

  • Pectinia corals are photosynthetic but will benefit from occasional feedings. Target feeding with small, meaty foods like reef roids, brine shrimp, or zooplankton once or twice a week can promote faster growth and deeper coloration.

Placement:

  • Place in the lower to middle parts of the tank. Keep it away from aggressive corals because the Pectinia can extend long sweeper tentacles at night, which can sting and harm nearby corals.

Aggression:

  • Moderate Aggression: The Space Invader Pectinia has long sweeper tentacles that can sting nearby corals. Make sure to give it enough space to avoid conflicts, especially with less aggressive species.

With stable water parameters and attention to placement, the Space Invader Pectinia can thrive and be a stunning centerpiece in your reef tank.
