The Raja Rampage Chalice is a popular coral for reef aquariums due to its vibrant colors and unique growth patterns. Here are some care guidelines:

Lighting:

  • Moderate to Low: Chalices prefer indirect, moderate to low light. Too much light can cause the coral to bleach or lose its color. LED or T5 lighting is common for these corals.

Water Flow:

  • Low to Moderate: Avoid strong, direct flow, as this can cause tissue damage. Gentle, indirect flow helps keep the coral clean and promotes growth.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72°F to 78°F (22°C to 25°C)
  • pH: 8.1 to 8.4
  • Alkalinity: 8 to 12 dKH
  • Calcium: 400 to 450 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1250 to 1350 ppm
  • Nitrates: <10 ppm
  • Phosphates: <0.03 ppm

Feeding:

  • Chalices can benefit from supplemental feedings. Target feeding with small foods like reef roids, mysis, or brine shrimp can help boost growth and coloration. Feed 1-2 times per week.

Placement:

  • Place in lower sections of the tank to avoid direct exposure to strong light and water flow. If the coral is newly introduced, start in a shaded area and gradually acclimate it to the tank's conditions.

Growth and Aggression:

  • Chalice corals can grow relatively quickly under the right conditions but can be aggressive toward neighboring corals. Their long sweeper tentacles can sting nearby corals, so give them adequate space.

With the right conditions, your Raja Rampage Chalice should thrive and maintain its vibrant coloration!
