The Fox Coral (Nemenzophyllia turbida) also known as Jasmine Coral or Ridge Coral, is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral that features fleshy and smooth polyps over a fragile calcareous skeleton, which requires extra care when handling or placing this specimen.

Fox Coral is an easy coral to maintain, making itself a great candidate for the beginner to more experience reef hobbyist. This coral only requiring moderate lighting intensity and low water movement within the aquarium. As well, the Fox Coral has very modest requirements in comparison with many similarly attractive corals.

This Coral can grow to a maximum of 6 inches, and can be found in a variety of colors in range of green, cream, white, pink, tan or brown. With their large striated ruffled polyps spreading out into flower-like shapes, they are occasionally mistaken for anemones and some species of Clownfish symbiotically pair up with Fox Coral as their host.

The Fox Coral is a very peaceful coral that does not have stinging tentacles, instead it uses its polyps to feed and should be housed with other non aggressive Corals. The polyps on the Fox Coral will extend approximately 3 times the width of the skeleton during the day. Keep this in mind when placing this specimen within your reef aquarium.

For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. It will also benefit from additional food fed weekly in the form of micro-plankton or brine shrimp.
