The Scissortail Goby, also known as the Scissortail Dartfish, is a member of the Dartfish family, which is found in outer reef slopes, lagoons and bays throughout the Indo-Pacific Oceans at depths of 10 to 50 feet. Scissortail Dartfish are a peaceful, social species that are quite popular in community reef aquariums, they tend to prefer living in small groups as juveniles and are usually found as pairs once they reach adulthood. Scissortail Dartfish are great for beginners as well as the more advanced hobbyist as they are an attractive and hardy species that are very easy to care for.

Scissortail Dartfish are reef safe and will not harm coral, ornamental shrimp, or crab species. They will thrive in tanks with plenty of live rock, loose rubble, and a deep sandy substrate.

Scissortail Dartfish are bicolored, with a white head, a shiny blue/silver front half and a darker rear half. The tail, dorsal and anal fins are also dark. The ideal aquarium should have ample swimming room, a sand bottom plenty of loose coral rubble for burrowing, and a tight-fitting lid to prevent it from jumping out of the tank. It should be kept in pairs or groups, and can be housed with other Gobies.
