The copperband butterflyfish ( Chelmon rostratus ), is also known as the beaked butterflyfish, beaked coralfish, or orange stripe butterfly, has a silver sheen body with several copper bands and a long protruding snout tipped with a small mouth, and a small black dot on the end of its dorsal fin. Commonly found in saltwater reefs in the Indian and Pacific oceans around Indonesia, Australia, the Philippines, and Singapore.

Its natural habitat consists of corals and reefs, which provide shelters and territories for the fish.

The Copperband Butterflyfish is one of the more difficult marine fish to keep in the home aquarium and is definitely not recommended for a saltwater beginner. Only introduce a copperband butterflyfish to a long established aquariums (6 months or more) with peaceful tank mates, but may become aggressive towards other Butterflies with a similar pattern or coloration in smaller tanks.

Caution should be exercised if housing these fish in a reef aquarium. They may pick on invertebrates, especially anemones and feather dusters.
