The Six Line Wrasse or Sixstripe Wrasse, (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) are quite hardy, disease resistant, and will bring a zip of color to any marine reef aquarium. Once acclimated they will even help control a few pests, like the pyramidellid snails, Bristle Worms, and commensal flatworms that some coral keeping aquarists have to deal with at times.

The Six Line Wrasse is one of the most active and colorful fish, that can be considered reef safe. The Six Line Wrasse loves to spend most of its time swimming and darting in and out the rocky caves. A relatively small fish, they tend to stay under 3 inches long, which means you can keep them in a tank that is 20-30 gallons.

They have a purple/blue body with six horizontal yellow/orange lines and the caudal fin is often a shade of green with hints of yellow. Mostly found in the coral reefs, the Six Line Wrasse belongs to the Labridae family, is native to reefs of the Indo-Pacific and the coast of Fiji.

It is recommended to introduce Six Lined Wrasses last to the tank, as newly arrived wrasses tend to be more peaceful that those already inhabiting and defending the tank. They will bully blennies, mandarins, pipefish, sea horses and other wrasse. Being a true community fish they also should not be housed with predatory fish such as the Lion fish or Puffer.
