The Potter's Angelfish (Centropyge potteri), or Potter's Pygmy Angelfish, is a magnificently colored pygmy angelfish, that is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands area, including the Johnston Atoll. Their body is a brilliant orange, marbled with fine vertical blue to black stripes on the entire body with yellow to orange fins. The dorsal and anal fins, as well as the caudal fin, are a dark bluish-black color.

The Potter's Angelfish should be offered a variety of foods including Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. This beautiful angelfish requires at least a 70 gallon or larger with lots of live rock for grazing on microalgae in between meals. This is a good sized dwarf angel, reaching just shy of 5 inches. But despite its size, it does best in a well established aquarium.

The Potter's Angelfish is not considered reef tank safe because it may nip at stony corals, clam mantles and other sessile invertebrates in the reef aquarium. This is a non-aggressive, curious and alert fish that should not be kept with members of its own species or other dwarf angels. It is only recommended for marine aquarists with some experience in keeping saltwater fish this little angel will make a fabulous aquarium center piece.
