The Fisher’s Angelfish, is commonly referred to as the Fisher’s Pygmy or Fisher’s Dwarf Angelfish, Orange Angelfish or Yellowtail Angelfish. With its orange body and thin sapphire-blue outline highlighting the belly and anal fin, it makes a great addition to well established aquariums utilizing live rock filtration or decoration.

Keep one Fisher’s Angelfish per aquarium and add it close to last to avoid aggression. They are not considered reef safe as they will eat corals and sessile invertebrates. It is harmless toward non-sessile invertebrates such as shrimp or crabs, but like most angels, the Fisher’s Angelfish will nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, that's why it is considered not to be reef safe.

The Fisher's Angelfish can be found in the reefs of the Hawaiian Islands and along the Johnston Atoll. It is usually found on rubble bottoms on outer reef slopes at depths of 50-150 feet.

Part of the dwarf angelfish family, but unlike its cousins, it will not do well in smaller or nano sized tanks. The Fisheri Angelfish can grow to be 4" in length, and requires a minimum of a 55 gallon aquarium to thrive, that offers lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing, seems to be the key to success with this pretty little fish.

Since Fisher's Angelfish are very difficult to distinguish male from female, it becomes hard to breed this species in captivity.

The diet of the Fisher’s Angelfish should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items. It will also graze on diatoms on the tank surface.
