Flaming Phoenix Montipora has amazing collection of colors and a very cool growth pattern. Instead of encrusting like most montipora, it will "scroll" and grow vertically while the base continues to encrust. The polyps on this monti are light violet and can take on a teal-colored hue. The Flaming Phoenix monti has a unique characteristic in it’s coloration and will have a golden, red-orange glow when placed under certain reef tank lighting.
Because Montipora is a hardy coral, it’s a great option as a beginner coral to try your hand at SPS. Watch this coral particularly for early warning signs that Alkalinity may be getting too low. If Alkalinity is low the Montipora in particular are one of the first corals to have closed polyps or a receding base.
Diet & Nutrition: Flaming Phoenix Montipora corals with a combination of foods like Zooplanktons, Phytoplanktons, Amino Acids and other Organic Proteins. A daily broadcast feeding while return and circulations pumps are stopped will ensure the corals have the ability to consume the nutrients they require.
